2117 comes to Spazio Maiocchi

2117, the exhibition and publication created by LAW and Carhartt WIP, is coming to Spazio Maiocchi, Milan this Monday 15th of January. Initially debuted at the launch of Carhartt WIP’s King’s Cross, London store in November, the exhibition will be transported to the Italian cultural hotspot, which is shared by Carhartt WIP, Slam Jam and Kaleidoscope Magazine, and was designed by Milanese architect Andrea Caputo.

Created to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the iconic Carhartt Chore Coat, 2117 interrogates and examines this much-loved garment as a means of deciphering the needs of a generation 100 years in the future. What will still matter, what will be rendered irrelevant? Few items of clothing have had such enduring appeal – does it also hold the answer to what we’ll consider essential a century from now?

"What will still matter, what will be rendered irrelevant?"

The project features work from some of London’s foremost designers, such as Judy Blame, Liam Hodges, Christopher Shannon and Sadie Williams – each has interpreted the Chore Coat in their own unique way – as well as original artwork – which riffs of the theme of ‘100’ – by seminal artists such as Jason Evans and Lucas Dillon.
